Towaco to Cape Coral is a 3 day ride each way. 450 miles per day. Round trip your looking at 6 full days on the road and 4 hotel stays plus gas. - 2700 miles @ 45mpg (is 60 gallons of fuel @ 2.80 per gallon is about $168 in gas total.
- 4 hotel stays would be about $200 on the cheap. 2 days at Cowens house will save $$
- Food is as cheap as you make it. figure $30 per day for 6 days is $180.
So to ride to and from by yourself would cost you about $548.00 plus an oil change unless you use synthetic. If you have the time, you might enjoy it. Compare that to airfare and rental. That could help you decide. All depends on your time and budget.

I called one of the best Vintage Gold Wing mechanics in the US. He happens to live in East TN. He worked on my Gold Wing's carbs in the past. I am inquiring about having him go through my bike and asses the work needed to fix, the trans and get the bike back in top running order. I am considering taking it to Key West. I will if I can get it all fixed up for a price I can swing!

Amanda and I are going to box up and ship our 1/2 helmets to Antman in Florida. That way we can have the comfort of our Full Face helmets on the long, high mileage days. When we get to Cape Coral we will leave our Full Faces behind and use the 1/2 helmets for the easy paced and HOT ride to Key West. We will do the reverse on the way back.

This isn't the post that I tell you that I can't go, but so much is up in the air right now that I don't know exactly what I'm going to be able to do as far as time off at that time. I've been spending a lot of time in Arkansas for the last week. My mom has severe Alzheimer's and had to be admitted to a hospital last Wednesday. She is "stable", and is getting the care she needs at the moment. To make a long story short...I'm not sure what time I'm going to need to spend helping them over the next few months. I believe it won't be extensive, but I don't know at this point. I'd like to take 29th - 7th, but I think you and Ron should make your plans and I'll fit to those however it turns out.
